Participants have tripled and total assets are up by more than $198 million since State Treasurer John Perdue’s office became administrator of West Virginia Retirement Plus in July 2006.

West Virginia Retirement Plus is a supplemental retirement savings vehicle available to employees of the state, 307 political subdivisions and 110 municipalities. Employees divert a certain selected percentage of their income to the plan, before it is taxed, and earn interest earnings therein.

“It’s an easy decision,” said Treasurer Perdue. “I urge any public employee whose employer is in partnership with us to participate – and we have a lot of partners. You can never save too much for retirement.”

Nearly 300 participants enrolled in the second quarter of fiscal 2020, following an October 2019 open house at the Capitol, attended by dozens of prospective members. Fiscal 2020 ends June 30.

As of Dec. 31, 2019, the plan had grown to 19,028 members with $267 million in total assets. For more information, go to www.wv457.com or call 1-800-422-7498.
